Is there a ghost in your machine?
This phrase is attributed to Gilbert Ryle from his book: The Concept of Mind,
“a critique of the notion that the mind is distinct from the body, and a
rejection of the theory that mental states are separable from physical states.”
It’s also a cool exhibit at The New Museum that “surveys the constantly
shifting relationship between humans, machines, and art.”
I like the idea that the ghost in your machine could be a friendly one.
What if your unseen visitor has good news for you?
It’s possible, right?
Our desire for control can frustrate us when technology doesn’t cooperate.
Maybe there’s a different way to look at it.
What do you think?
